February P.E. Activities

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
February is going to be a busy month with a number of activities taking place both on and off site.On Tuesday, February 5th the grades 5 and 6 students from St. Eustache and St. Francois will be getting together for a floor hockey tournament that morning. Sometime over the month of February the grade 6 will participate in a learn to curl program put on by curling Manitoba. On February 21st students in grades 4, 5, and 6 will be going to Fort Whyte Nature Centre and get active in a winter carnival day which will involve snowshoeing. toboganning, and many other activities.
All students from grades 1 to 6 who signed up are currently involved in floor hockey intramurals. The grades 4, 5, and 6 are also participating in basketball intramurals during lunch recess on the days I am not here.
After school basketball will come to an end on Monday, February 4th and will be replaced by floor hockey starting Monday, February 11th. I am anticipating a high number of students staying back for this activity and will likely have to split the 2 days. Mondays will be for students in grades 5 and 6 who wish to stay after school and play while grade 3 and 4 students can stay on Thursdays. Both days will run from 3:30 to 4:45.
Should you have any question about the P.E. program or any of the extra-curricular activities, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Sincerely,
R. Piche

November Activities

Dear Students and Parents,

Halloween has come and gone and we are now starting to get ready for the cold weather. Students in grades 1 to 4 participated in a Halloween circuit and games last week. Many thanks to the grade 6 students who helped run the stations. Students over the month of November will be involved in fitness circuits, movement skills , and a wide variety of games and activities.
Our intramural program is still underway with indoor soccer coming to an end soon for the grade 1 to 3 students an volleyball wrapping up for the grade 4 to 6 students. Once these intramurals are finished we will begin a new set of intramurals for both groups.
After school volleyball will conclude on November 20th. After school basketball will begin as soon as we return from Christmas break and will also be 2 days a week from 3:30 to 4:45. More information will become available before we leave for break.
Students in grades 5 and 6 are reminded to return their ' I Love To Run ' activity calendars from October by Friday, November 9th. I strongly encourage all students and families to stay active over the winter months. Keep fit and stay warm.

Mr. Piches October Blog

Dear Students and Parents,

School is nicely underway and students have begun participating in a number of extra-curricular activities. Students from grades 1 to 3 are participating in indoor soccer intramurals on days 1 and 3 while students in grades 4 to 6 are participating in volleyball intramurals on days 3 and 5. It is nice to see that about 90 percent of the student population signed up for intramurals.
We are well into the cross-country running season and currently have over 20 students from grades 4,5,and 6 training for a provincial cross country meet on Thursday, October 18. Students need to run in at least 10 of the 15 training sessions in order to qualify for the run.
Our volleyball season is now underway and it was great to see 28 kids at the first 2 sessions. A reminder that practices take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 4:45. Students need a permission form every time they are going to stay. Forms can be obtained from the office or from myself.
Students in grades 5 and 6 are reminded to log their physical activity over the month of October using their I Love To Run charts. Parents are asked to support and encourage their children in following and pursuing healthy lifestyle practices.
Should parents have any quesstions regarding the physical education program I encourage you to phone or stop in and see me at the school. Have a great October.

September Start

,Dear students and parents,

It is great to be back and starting to get in the swing of things again. We are starting in with movement concepts with students in K to 3 while students from grade 4 to 6 will be involved in soccer and volleyball.

I am going to start cross country running with students in grades 4,5, and 6 starting on Tuesday, September 11. These runs will take place on days 1,3, and5 during lunch recess. I currently have 3 cross country meets which we can enter and more information will follow for those who are interested. This is a great form of training to get in shape for hockey, indoor soccer. or just physical condition.

Starting Tuesday, October 2 ,I will be starting volleyball practices for any students in grades 4, 5, and 6 who are interested. These practices will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 until 4:45. I am also working on a few exhibition games and possibly a tournament. Students in grades 5 and 6 will comprise the team while students in grade 4 will develop their skills for next year.

These are 2 great opportunities to get your child active and I encourage you to encourage them to get active and participate. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at 864-2868.

Sincerely,
