Winter 2010

Hi Folks,
Hard to believe but Christmas break is already here. Just dropping a line to let you know some of the things that will be coming up when we return in January. As for the previous last 2 months students in grades 4, 5, and 6 will be able to participate in lunch hour intramurals on days 1, 3, and 5. I will also continue after school activities for this same age group starting Monday, January 10th. Similar to volleyball, all activities will take place Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15 to 4:30. All of January and part of February will be basketball and the remainder of February and March will be floor hockey.
I am also planning some out of school activities. The entire school will have the opportunity to go skating in St. Eustache at least 2 days next term and will also be going to Fort Whyte Nature Centre in early March. There will be more information to follow as this approaches.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and take time to enjoy the season. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. See you in January.

Fall 2010

Hi Folks,
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer despite all the rain we had. It is good to be back and am just dropping a line to give you some information on upcoming activities and dates. As in the past I will start off with cross-country running for any students from grades 4, 5, and 6 who are interested. Training will take place on days 1, 3, and 5 at 11:45 before the students eat. Runners will be training for 1 or 2 meets over the course of the season. If students would like to train and not do the meets that is fine also.
Our annual Terry Fox Run will take place on Friday, September 24th at 1 pm. Parents are more than welcome to join us for this event. Once again we will be asking for loonies and toonies towards fighting this disease.
Following cross-country running students in grades 4, 5, and 6 will be able to participate in lunch hour intramurals. These intramurals will take place from mid October until Spring Break and will encompass everything from volleyball, basketball, handball, floor hockey, etc. All intramurals will take place on days 1, 3, and 5 from 12:10 to 12:45.
Finally I will be continuing on with our after school activities this year. Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 will be able to develop their skills in volleyball, basketball, and floor hockey. All sessions will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15 to 4:30. Students will need permission forms from parents for each day they are staying and all students must be picked up at 4:30. Our first volleyball session will be Monday, October 6th.
Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.

Spring 2010

Hi Folks,
Mother Nature gave us a fairly decent winter and appears to be starting Spring in the same manner. Term 2 was extremely busy with a number of activities happening both on and off site. Judging by the reaction of the students all were enjoyed.
Our final term is not nearly as busy as our after school activities have come to an end and our intramurals are winding down except for grade 6 badminton. Following the grade 6 badminton tournament, students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be able to participate in Manitoba Marathon training. Training will take place on days 1, 3, and 5 at 11:45. All runners will be training for the 2.6 mile super run which will be held on Fathers Day at the University of Manitoba. Our tentative training start date is Tuesday, April 27th. This is a great opportunity to improve their fitness levels, cardiovascular endurance, and obtain a love of running. It is also a wonderful way to cross train for any other sports they participate in. Parents are always welcome to join.
As for the past 3 years I am looking at running a track and field meet for students in grades 4, 5, and 6. Our students will be competing against students from other schools in various running and field events. I have tentatively set this for Friday, May 28th at the high school in Elie. Finally I am hoping to have a baseball tournament with our grade 5/6 students and the students from St. Eustache. This would happen sometime in June. Students from both schools would be mixed into teams and would compete against the other teams rather than the schools.
I would like to thank those parents, alumni, etc. who helped with various activities throughout the year both on site and off site. Please feel free to stop in and see me should you have any questions or call me at 864-2868 during school hours. Stay active and enjoy life.
